Last week at Rendi we embarked on our first road party! And what a great time we had with the women (and a few men) of Otter Box in Fort Collins, Colorado!

Otter Box is a company that makes protective smart phone covers and iPad cases. My brother Curt and his wife Nancy who own Otter Box have been so excited about Rendi that they offered to host a corporate party for their employees at The Edwards House at delightful historic bed & breakfast in the heart of Old Town Fort Collins. We actually had the party in The Lodge which is the conference space next to the bed & breakfast!

So a few of us from Rendi, packed up our cars and drove to the other end of our fair state of Colorado to introduce Rendi to the Otters! 🙂 What a FUN time we had!
Easter Inspiration On the Dining Room Table

I just thought I’d share a little Easter inspiration with you. Being such a visual person, I love expressing things through tangible word pictures. With Easter upon us and the reminder that after winter spring always comes, I couldn’t help but try to express the amazing miracles of resurrection and abundant life that are offered to each and every one of us by the Lover of our souls, Jesus!

I hope and pray that your heart and soul are blessed abundantly with new life and God’s amazing love for you, yes YOU, His amazing and precious child!
Do You Need To Let Yourself Off The Hook?
Wow, I must admit that I am suffering from a bit of BGS- that would be Blogger Guilt Syndrome! You know “they” say you should consistently post or risk loosing your readership!!! OMG!!! Talk about pressure! LOL! As if we as women don’t have enough on our TO-DO list, right?

Last week was a full on roller coaster ride for me! My TO-DO list just about TO-DID me in! I was re-setting a showroom, designing another showroom for a special Rendi event, traveling and saying good-bye to long time dear friends.

Early in the week, I was treated to an evening with former First Lady, Laura Bush! I had the privilege and the pleasure of hearing her share about her life as First Lady… and as Laura Bush! She is so real and so personable. She shared with us her journey of discovering how her passion and her influence came together to help women around the world while the press speculated about whether or not she was up to the challenge. I was struck by how she gave herself the space to discover her calling on her own timetable without caving to all of the very public opinions of her! Her quiet, calm confidence spoke volumes to me!

I also loved that she shared with us about George’s highly disciplined approach to life. Get this, at Christmas, he writes thank you notes for each gift before opening the next one! Now, that’s funny! No matter what your politics might be, you gotta love that!

Then came the saying goodbye to dear friends….by week’s end, I was definitely TO-DONE, physically and emotionally! This one is too hard to elaborate on without getting weepy.

I hope I don’t sound too shallow but in order to find a moment of temporary comfort, I just gave myself permission to eat chocolate cake- really gooey, terrible for you chocolate cake. Yep, I just went right over the edge of all that I know to be healthy and wise! It was DEEE-LISH! There was something very comforting in just letting myself off the hook from the responsibility of being responsible for things like blogging consistently and holding myself together 🙂

So here’s a really EASY, really YUMMY let-yourself-off the-hook recipe I got from my friend Tracy! I might even send it to Laura Bush for George to try eating in between writing thank you notes next Christmas! LOL!!!

Cake:
1 box of Devil’s Food Cake
1 can of cherries
1 teaspoon of almond extract
2 eggs

Mix well with beater. Spray a 9 x 13 pan lightly with oil. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.

Frosting:
1 cup sugar
1/3 butter
1/3 milk

Stir and bring to a boil. Boil for one minute while stirring. Remove from heat.

Add: 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Stir until melted. Poor while warm over cake AND ENJOY!
“Who knew how much you’d change my heart?”
I just love that question! It’s one that can only be answered when a woman becomes a mom. Whether she gives birth or gives her heart to a child who needs a mom!

Today, April 7, 2011, my sweet friend Kendall is having a baby girl! Her and her dashing husband, Tyler, are in the midst of trying to bring their first child, Elliott, into the world- right this minute! I have a special place in my heart for this new family. Kendall was a nine year old, strawberry blonde when Eric, our oldest son, was born. While Mark and I awaited his arrival, Kendall was at home composing a song for us. Singing her heart out and singing Eric into the world!

I love that she stopped in the middle of her ballad to narrate the events of the day. “My mom says that Annie’s water broke. Whatever that means?!!!” Today, Kendall will really know what that means!

If you happen to be a mom, you know what I mean when I say that Kendall’s life will never be the same! Could you even imagine before you had children how much love your heart could contain? Could you fathom the degree to which you would be so concerned with someone else’s safety and wellbeing? Who knew that you could continue to function and dress yourself after repeated sleepless nights? Ok, some days I stayed in my jammies! True confession: I remember wondering if I had somehow been transformed into a dairy cow being so vital to another human being’s survival every two hours for months on end!

I find it amazing how having kids will enlarge your heart and make it feel as though it will burst! Albeit, sometimes with joy, sometimes with frustration but always making you see life beyond yourself and in spite of yourself! Crazy, isn’t it?

Here’s to you Kendall, Tyler and Elliott! My heart is full for you and for the miraculous gift you are about to receive as you become family!
HOUSE RULES Contest Winners!!! Let’s Celebrate!
First of all, thanks so much to those of you who participated in the FIRST Rendi contest! It was SO MUCH FUN to see how creative you all are! I am sure we will have contests from time to time!

Thought I would share a little of the fun of celebrating with Rendi! We love reasons to celebrate! Here are some of the behind the scenes preparations. I think you’ll find them to be SO EASY you might want to have some fun with them at your own Rendi parties! We’d be flattered!
Give one pie crust a little extra rolling on a floured surface. Use a small glass or biscuit cutter to cut circles out of the crust. You can re-roll after cutting as many circles as you can and easily fill a 24 mini muffin tin.
Sweet & Spicy Cashews

16 oz Raw Cashews
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon curry
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/8 cup sugar
1/8 cup vegetable oil

Stir all ingredients together and roast at 350 degrees for 15 minutes! EASY!
