SOUL FOOD: Looking Up!

SOUL FOOD: Looking Up!

I met Teresa several weeks ago when she came to Colorado for Rendi’s Road to Leadership Retreat. It was a pleasure to watch Teresa blossom over the weekend! She told me that her goal was to “have a lot of fun with Rendi”! And I believe she will!

The Rendi Leadership Retreat was much more than just a sales training weekend. Someone asked me before I went if I was going to come back a Rendi sales robot encouraging everyone I meet to buy Rendi. I said I wasn’t sure, but I certainly hoped not!

My experience turned out to be so much more than I expected. What an inspiring and motivating time we all had together! Annie and her husband welcomed us into their home and shared their story of ups and downs and how Rendi came to be. We toured the plant and got to see the behind the scenes production process. We also had some incredible training from a very experienced direct sales consultant. But what touched me the most about my trip to Trinidad was our time spent with Annie creating our Rendi journals.

Annie gave us each a packet of quotes and asked us to choose one that meant something to us personally and share why it was meaningful. The quote that immediately spoke to me brought me to tears (me, really? I never cry!).

There are so many negative things going on in this world today- people losing their jobs, businesses closing, upside down mortgages, the list goes on. As someone who has always been a pessimist, it is very easy for me to find the negative in things and let them get me down. It takes a lot more effort for me to find that silver lining.

One of my new year’s resolutions was to find the good in things and to focus on being more positive. After all, my life this past year has been pretty amazing with so many positive changes that there really is no reason for me to be looking down.
So from now on, the challenges and hurdles that are placed before me are just that, and it is up to me to make the good things happen. I may not have returned home a “Rendi sales robot”, but I am definitely looking up more!

House Rules To Live By
I am so excited to introduce you to Kim Howes, one of our Rendi Stylists, and to show you how she used Rendi’s TAG SIGN from our PURE COTTAGE COLLECTION to create a wonderful statement of her family’s core values!
My “House Rules” tag was the very first RENDI piece I created. A few years back, I spotted a family rules signs in a catalog and thought it was such a clever idea!

When I saw the “Blessing” sign in the RENDI catalog, I fell in love with it! AND, when I realized the sign could hold 360 characters, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it- create something to hang in our home with our own set of family “rules,” or as my husband calls them, our core values!

Most aren’t really rules at all, but simple ideals we want to instill in our boys, such as “Enjoy Life” and “Dream Big.” Others serve as great reminders for all of us such as “Have Patience” and “Clean Up After Yourself.”
SOUL FOOD: Is It Too Hard To Be Great?
And then, by mid-January there are days when we wake up and it seems like the previous year’s rhythms are back in full force and our resolve has deeee-ssolved! Am I alone on this one?!

Let’s all just count to three and take a deep breath! New rhythms are hard to settle into- YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Don’t let that temporary settling get ya down!

I love this quote by Zig Ziglar! Such an amazing man! And it reminds me that the only way to get to that new place in your life is one step at a time- kind of keeps it simple and DOABLE!

So if you’re havin’ a little self-doubt or you find yourself a little overwhelmed now and then- print this card out where you can remind yourself to take life ONE STEP AT A TIME!
SOUL FOOD: You have brains in your head and feet in your shoes!
Good Monday Morning! I am back at dishing’ up some SOUL FOOD! Mmmhmm!

The first two weeks of January have been filled with a flurry of activity getting ready and gussying up for the girls of Rendi! What a group of energy, fun and inspiration they are!

They came from the east side and the west side and from the middle too! They are smart, witty, ambitious and kind. They are generous, thoughtful and a little bit sassy. They are tall, short and each one is classy! I had a ton of fun with each and all of them! They left me inspired and SO excited about the growing community of women at Rendi!

This week’s SOUL FOOD card is dedicated to each of them! Congrats on all the hard work that got you here to Colorado and thanks for all of your wonderful input! Here’s to each of you! Here we go 2012!
